I had to return my original purchase for a replacement. The second worked fine. It was frustrating though because I bought it to take pictures of the birth of my first child and it worked the day before my c-section but not the day of. Sigh... I was at the hospital borrowing cameras etc. I still like the ease and clarity of this camera though compared to my old one but I just wished it worked on the most important day of my life.

I only bought this camera because I was able to get it for $60. It's not even worth that much. Any picture taken in less than ideal lighting condition comes out grainy. So essentially you get an 8 megapixel picture that looks about as good as the one you get from the phone on your camera. It comes with a proprietary USB cable to connect to your computer which is stupid. Why not use the standard one that all other digital camera's use? Lastly, to get the pictures on your computer you need to load the crappy Kodak software on there. Most other camera's don't require 3rd party software to transfer the pictures to your computer. To work around this, use a media reader to read the SD card.

Wonderful little camera! It takes beautiful, clear pictures, even in low light. Also, the macro setting is wonderful. I took some test shots of tulips and they were just beautiful! Even on an overcast day!

As with all gift purchases I had to take this baby for a test drive before I wrapped it up. Amazingly, the photos are crystal clear. Resolution is perfect. The built in stabilizer helped compensate for the windy day. One photo from the series of shots that I had taken was enlarged to 16" x 20" format. All I can say is, pixel perfect. One sweet feature that surprised me was the digital zoom. It enhanced each and every photo without sacrificing pixels. As a professional photographer I remain impressed with the Kodak C713 Camera. I would highly recommend this camera to everyone that wants great quality photos without spending the extra bucks on a big ticket digital SLR camera and lens system.

It only looks serious. The Z1012 is pure fun to use. Though it appears like an SLR camera, the Kodak Easyshare 1012IS sports a long 12x optical zoom with its 33-396 mm (35 mm equiv.) f/2.8-4.8 SCHNEIDER-KREUZNACH VARIOGON Lens. So even though you can't change lenses, the focal length means you don't have to. 10.1-megapixel resolution captures still images at up to 36722748 for exquisite detail. Want to take movies? This camera may be good if you never take a picture outdoors. There is no viewfinder to look through. Outdoors, any natural light will make seeing what your trying to take a picture of impossible. The LCD screen reflects a fairly good mirror image of your face. So it may be good to adjust your makeup but not much else.

I got this camera for my birthday and it works great. I'm just using it for general picture taking, but the pictures I have taken come out nice and clear. I love it and I recommend it to anyone who is interested in just simple picture taking.

I love this camera. I have had it for a little over a month. Prior to this I owned 2 HP cameras. My last HP camera took wonderful pictures, but ate batteries. When going anywhere-a wedding, the zoo for the day, etc I knew to pack at least 10 batteries, usually more like 12 and I'd use everyone of them, which I why I decided to buy a new camera. Here are my thoughts:
1. Batteries- this camera is great on the batteries. I bought a pack of 4 Kodak AA reacharable, along with a charger. So far, those batteries have served me and I've only had to recharge a few times. I went to a shower where I took over 150 pictures and I NEVER had to change the batteries, and the batteries had already been in the camera for awhile.
2. Picture Quality-is great. I can easily get a clear 8 x 10 in any of the picutres. I do a lot of flower designing for weddings and I take up close pictures of my bouquets a lot. It took me a few times to play with the settings to find the right one, but it takes good pictures even with that, which leads me to my next point
3. Flash- seems to be very good. My flower colors are very true to real life, as is all of the colors in the pictures that I take.
4. Features-this camera has great feaures. It has a panoramic mode, which I love, although I haven't yet had a real reason to use it. It also has a speical self-portriat setting, which my teenage god-daughter loves. It has a fireworks option, which I can't wait to try tonight, and several other great options. When I first got the camera, I took a picture of the exact same thing using each of the settings to see how it affected the picture. If you arent sure of the settings, or are giving your camera to someone else to take pictures with, you can set it to the Smart Scene function and the camera will automatically use the best option.
5. Memory-You need to get at least a 2GB or 4GB memory card. The camera does have an "internal" memory, which I found took about 20-30 pictures depending on how many megapixels I had it set on (I usually have it set on 9, so that it doesn't take as much memory). I had a 128MB memory card from my old camera that allowed me to take just under 300 pix on that camera, but I could only take about 45 on this one. Now that I have the 4GB card, I can take over 2,000 pictures.
6. Software- I don't really like the software that came with it. I find it hard to use, and it took a lot of memory from my system. The HP software is much better than the Kodak software. It put my pictures is some weird file that I had to search long for before I could find where they were to send out in an email, etc. The software works with both the Vista Desktop I have, and my XP laptop. I have found it easier to just use the memory card port on the desktop, rather than hooking up the camera with the included USB cord. That being said, the software is great if you want to burn your pictures to a CD, since it's very easy.
7. The only 2 things I dont LOVE about this camera is the fact that each time I remove the batteries & recharge them, I have to re-set the time & date. This may be because it is without batteries at times for 24+ hours. However, that is not enough to stop me from highly recommending this camera. I also find the turn-around time between shots to be a little longer that I would like, but there may be a setting to help change with. I'm still playing with the camera, and haven't played with EVERY feature yet.
All in all, the camera is an excellent value and I don't regret buying it.

Don't Buy This Camera - Display Sceen Impossible To See 1 out of 5 stars.

I previously owned a Kodak EasyShare DX6340 and it was a great camera. I decided to purchase their new V1273 and found it almost useless. The problem is in their display screen. It is impossible to see even on cloudy days and there is no view finder to use under those conditions. Therefore your left guessing as to how to frame your picture. I wrote Kodak about the problem and they said all digital cameras have this problem. That is not true. While on a resent trip someone showed me there Sony digital camera and the display was clearly visible in bright sunshine. I contacted Kodak again about the problem and they said "sorry your beyond the 30 day guarantee". So now I'm stuck with a useless camera not to mention the accessories I bought with it. I will never buy a Kodak product again.

I would just like to say that this is by far the best camera I have used, I have read where others say that the color is off, frankly I can see nothing wrong with the color,it is great! I have also read where others have said that it doesn't have a self timer, I don't know if they have read the book or not, but mine has a self timer, I cannot find any faults in this camera,it has features you'd never expect to find on a point and shoot camera, it has full auto mode and it also can do full manual mode, giving you complete control of shutter speed and aperture settings
