Recording functionality is fine, quality is fine. But I have had huge battles transfering the files to my computer, so they can be viewed on the internet, and sent to friends. The files are in a VRO and IFO format. I have been able to get it to work somewhat by changing the VRO file to a MPG file. But it doesn't view properly if there are multiple clips in the file, unless I combine them all into one file on the camcorder first. I would also have loved it if I were able to just download one clip off my camcorder or somehow seperate them, so they can be viewed as separate files. So far my answer has been to get several discs and switch the disc everytime I want a new clip to be separate from the others. then I upload them off each disk seperately. I have tried using different software types and I haven't found one that solves the problem. If anyone knows and easier way to fix this problem, I would love to hear about it.

I bought this case for the purpose of providing protection for, and easy access to, my Lumix FX01 for outings of not more than a day. It suits that purpose perfectly. It's attractive and well-made; it fits the camera perfectly; and its magnetic snap closure makes taking the camera out and putting it away almost a pleasure. Because it fits the camera perfectly, it doesn't have any space for accessories, such as extra SD cards or an extra battery, so for trips that last longer than a single battery charge you would need a larger case, or an extra case to carry those things, which is what I have. That case stays in my suitcase or in my hotel room on those occasions when I think I will need the accesssories. The PS-HFX9K is what I hang on my belt when I go out.

This camera is sort of like an SLR because its optical zoom covers a wide 12x range. It's not quite as compact as most compact cameras but it offers professional features. You've got up to 8 megapixel still resolution and up to VGA motion resolution plus sound capability. An optical image stabilizer helps steady the camera despite most hand tremors. The DMC-FZ30's LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT lens features 14 elements in 8 groups, including 3 aspherical lenses and an ED (extra-low dispersion) lens which helps to suppress the color bleeding that often occurs in telephoto shots, plus a 12x optical zoom (35mm equivalent: 35 to 420mm). This combines with the large, 1/1.8" diagonal 8-megapixel CCD to give you enormous expressive power. The new Extended Optical Zoom, which minimizes the image degradation that normally occurs with digital zooming, gives you up to 19.1x power in 3-megapixel photos, and up to 15x power in 5-megapixel photos. The manual focus ring lets you focus on whatever part of your subject you wish, and the zoom ring lets you zoom in and out easily and accurately as you compose the perfect shot. They're both fast, so you can capture moving subjects in your composition. Regardless of the Mode Dial setting, you can take macro shots instantly by flicking the switch on the side of the lens to the AF Macro setting. This lets you get as close as 0.16 feet (5cm) from your subject (at the maximum wide-angle setting). This is a fine camera, light, small, great zoom and stabilization. Battery life is also good.
The negatives would be the manual focus is a bit tricky to master and the small size leaves your pinky finger with no room. The other negative was the high ISO setting is a bit obtuse as you have to go to scene mode to engage it.
Lens caps seem to get lost as well.
The light weight makes it a bit unstable at long zooms. Michelle Ress USA

I'm not an expert photographer, but in my experience using the Panasonic DMC-FZ7, I've found that:
- it takes clear, crisp photos in daylight or using the flash.
- in dim light, the photos have a lot of noise.
- the optical zoom lens is great.
- the macro feature allows incredibly detailed close-ups.
- it's best to use a tripod if you're not using the flash (to reduce blurriness).
I've owned the FZ7 for about a year and half and I still love it and have had no problems with it thus far. My best use of the camera was during a camping trip to the mountains where I got some really good photos that I'm still showing off to people.
The optical zoom feature is INCREDIBLE! I was standing quite a distance from a tree that had a huge hornet (or wasp?) nest in it and I zoomed in as close as possible and the photo was crystal clear.
Two of my absolute favorite photos taken with this camera were a super close-up (using the macro feature) of my cat's face and the photo described above of the hornet nest (using the 12x optical zoom). Awesome.

I was looking to replace my worn out panasonic battery that came with my camcorder and found this one. This battery works great with my camcorder and is compatible with the original panasonic charger as well. It lasts way longer than the original panasonic battery. Overall great battery.

Heck, *if* you could find an OEM battery for a 6 year old camcorder, it would cost you half the price of a new camera... This is a fine alternative, it does the trick for a good price.

I bought this as a back-up battery to help film a wedding, but I quickly discovered that this battery works even better than the original Panasonic battery that came with my camera. Of course, this has a higher mA rating than the original, so a longer life is to be expected. I normally opt for the brand-name batteries, but I completely urge anyone to buy this instead of the brand-name and you'll save lots of money too!
I saw reviews that said it didn't work for them, but I had no problems. Just make sure your Panasonic battery is a CGR-D220 or CGR-D16. It will say on the battery. If it's not one of those two Panasonic batteries, this won't work for you.
