Awesome camera ! 4 out of 5 stars.
6 of 6 people found this review helpful.

Bought this for $320 from resellerratings.com-->AbesOfMaine. I have previously owned a Sony DSC-T5 camera, and absolutely loved it. Unfortunately, I lost it and was forced to buy this one.

I would like to mention that lot of people (including CNET) have rated this awesome awesome camera bad because you have to press Ok button a little more than others. Frankly speaking, the guy at CNET probably doesnt own this camera, he just used it for 15 minutes and gave a "first impression". I own this camera and I just dont mind pressing the Ok button at all. It does not hurt the usability of the camera at all.

My opinion of this camera so far...
1. The smile and face detection are pretty awesome (although I was very skeptical about that before I bought it)
2. The "add a smile" feature is just for fun...although it added a perfect smile to my 6 month old daughters face in one of the pics. But in majority of the cases it does a sloppy job. But regardless, it is a fun feature to have when your friends are around.
3. The HD quality video....and 16:9 ratio...too cool! I sold my video camera and will now only use this all in one device.
4. The ability to touch up pictures, scribbling on the touch screen, adding icons here and there and lot of other effect are very cool to say the least.
5. Ability to view pictures by dates, very handy.
6. Although, outputting the HD content to a HDTV requires a special cable which Sony doesn't include. I think that kinda sucks.
7. The battery does show an icon indicating how much is left, although it doesnt show the exact minutes. I think it is a minor annoyance, because it gives me a very good indication of when I need to charge it.
8. Ability to Zoom while Video Recording....I love it. It is like having a camcorder in your hands.
9. The stability shot is pretty cool too, my hands are pretty shaky and I was really amazed that even in a night mode picture, my dog's pic came out perfect (Thing to note here is, my hands were shaking and u cannot tell a dog to hold still)
10. 1 thing I hate is that you have to buy the memory stick separately which is much expensive than an SD card which adds to the cost. Btw, Abesofmaine tried to fool me telling me that I need to upgrade to a high speed memory stick otherwise it will slow down my every picture to 5-6 seconds. What a joke...that cheap memory stick that I bought from them, allows me to take a shot in milliseconds.

Hope this helps. All in All, I like this camera a lot. And of course this is just a personal opinion. Although, I wished I had bought the black one..I bought silver for $3 less :(

Take stunning shots in a variety of conditions. The Sony DSC-W150 Cyber-shot(R) 8.1-Megapixel Digital Camera features an Intelligent Scene mode, which automatically selects the right settings for your environment. Smile Shutter technology lets you instantly capture smiles the moment they happen. A Carl Zeiss 5x optical zoom lens and Sony's Double Anti-Blur solution provide crisp, clear images. Because an off-center subject can make your shot more interesting, a 9-point auto-focus measures the focus at 9 precision points instead of 5 for a greater creative freedom to compose your image. A large, bright 2.7" Clear Photo LCD display includes an anti-reflective coating that provides for excellent visibility to help you compose, view, and share photos with superb clarity and color reproduction, even in bright sunlight. Face Detection technology automatically controls focus, exposure, color, and flash to help reveal faces in shadows, make skin tones look more natural, reduce red-eye, and eliminate harsh facial glare, so your photos bring out every expression on every face in every shot. A built-in optical viewfinder lets you compose your photos in traditional rangefinder camera style and helps save battery power by turning off your LCD display. Shutter Speed - Auto (1/4 - 1/1,600) / Program Auto (1 - 1/1,600) ISO - Auto, 80, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, and 3200 Flash Modes - Auto, Flash On, Slow Syncro, and Flash Off Scene Modes - Auto, Easy Shooting, Program Auto, Movie, High Sensitivity, Twilight, Twilight Portrait, Soft Snap, Landscape, Beach, Snow, Fireworks, Smile Shutter, and Underwater Movie Modes - MPEG VX Fine with Audio (640x480 at 30fps), MPEG VX Standard with Audio (640x480 at 16fps), 320 (QVGA, 320 x 240, Approx.8.3fps) Operating System - Microsoft 2000 Professional, Me, XP Home and Professional, Macintosh OS 9.1, 9.2, and OS X (10.0-10.4)

Not for the tech unsavy! 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I purchased this camera after about 2 months of research on every camera out there. I Love this camera, but I only gave it 4 stars for the following reasons:
1. The product manual doesn't really tell you how to use the camera and the tons of functions.
2. The touch screen is incredible. It can get a little overwhelming because one minute you can find a specific setting or function but when you go back to look for it again, you can't.
3. It would be nice if the manual would help out with setting suggestions for taking pics.
4. Many people say that this camera takes bad pics, but I have found that you really need to get to know the settings and flash controls.
5. The software that comes with this is a bit confussing. I was on Kodak easyshare before buying the Sony Cybershot DSC-T70. The Kodak Easyshare software is WWWAAAAYYYY easier for everything. Sony would be smart to look at Kodak's software and make changes to there software.
6. The flash is way too brite. A photographer friend of mine recommended taking a small piece of scotch tape (clear-frosted) and put it over the flash. This made a world of differance!

Overall, this is a fantastic camera! It has taken me a few weeks to get used to the settings, but I'm really glad that I didn't give up. No product out there is going to be perfect and everything is always going to upset someone, but this one is worth the time to get to know. I love that you can edit pics on the camera however, I can't figure out how to edit on the Sony software... One more recommendation, DO NOT use the red eye function. I have had better pics not using this feature than with it.

Too Complicated 1 out of 5 stars.
1 of 4 people found this review helpful.

I decided to upgrade from my older Sony CyberShot and was unsatisfied with the touch screen function. Also, the camera has a few buttons on the sides, but they are entirely too hard, so I'd have to press down on them anytime I wanted to use them, which was frequently.

I gave it a star because the style is the best I've seen from Sony by far.

Always with you 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Its the camera that I have with me every day, all the time, as its small, does not take up a lot of space, has long battery life, starts up and takes pictures very quickly and image quality is excellent.

I prefer buttons to touchscreens, but I got used to this one and it works pretty well. Can operate the camera by one hand only, including the zoom, to take pictures, for example if I catch an interesting light on a building while walking on the street.

Low light scene programs work very well, took a few night skyline and fireworks shots recently. You will need a mini tripod or a Joby Gorillapod for that.

The T2 really lived up to my expectations as the point and shoot that's always ready. It complements well my film cameras that I use for more elaborate photography.

Editorial Review:

Take beautiful 8.1-Megapixel photos with a camera that fits in your pocket. The Cyber-shot(R) DSC-S780 digital camera raises the bar for other cameras in this class. It features advanced Face Detection technology, which optimizes focus, exposure, and color for accurate reproduction of up to three faces. Face Detection technology automatically controls focus, exposure, color, and flash to help reveal faces in shadows, make skin tones look more natural, reduce red-eye, and eliminate harsh facial glare, so your photos bring out every expression on every face in every shot. The advanced Sony Super HAD(TM) (Hole Accumulated Diode) CCD design allows more light to pass to each pixel, increasing sensitivity and reducing noise. A five-point auto focus evaluates your shot at 5 points on your screen so you'll get great results even with off-center subjects that make interesting photocompositions. The large, bright 2.5" TFT LCD display makes it easy to compose shots, check results, and read menus in sharp natural color, even in bright sunlight. You can take three shots automatically at 1-second intervals (VGA standard mode) or 2-second intervals (full resolution mode). When shooting photos using your camera and an optional GPS unit, the software even provides a convenient map view function that lets you sort photos by location and displays their origin on a world map. Capture 320 x 240 audio video clips at up to 30 frames per second. A quick press of the Home button opens your user-friendly graphical interface and you can select functions by simply moving a cursor vertically or horizontally to the appropriate icon. Function names and the on-screen Function Guide display make it easier to learn camera setup operations. This is a very good camera and I recommend it as a good first camera for anyone. The zoom, macro, and flash work very well and the camera's layout is easy to get the hang of. The camera's large display screen is great too. I like how this camera takes AA batteries instead of the usual li-ion rechargeable battery found in most thinner cameras.
The only complaint I have is when you are recording a video you dont have sound playback. Also, once uploaded to the computer the sound quality isn't that great.
It is very easy to upload your photos to a computer with a very easy-to-use program layout. I would rate this a 4 out of 5.
