Camera good for the money, but display cracked 3 out of 5 stars.

I bought this camera for the brand (always like Kodak), for the fact that it uses an SD card, AA batteries (rechargeables always!), and also for the megapixels it offered. I like the picture quality, especially for landscape, sport and sunset. Indoors with flash is not the greatest, and taking concert pictures does not give me great results. Video is good, sound quality is so-so. Advice to anyone purchasing this camera: use a padded case. I had this camera in the back of our motorcycle and we hit a deep hole (the camera was in my purse in a small case). The back display is broken (not in pieces but looks like a fireworks display when you turn the camera on). You can't see to take a picture, or review the images after you take a picture. But, if I take a picture, and put my SD card into a different camera, I can see the picture. I really liked this camera, but only used it for about 2 months. Take care of those digital cameras with large displays!

Downgrade from previous Kodak Z series cameras 1 out of 5 stars.

This camera seems to be end all, nicest Z series camera produced, and Kodak is flaunting very fast capture speeds. They do however leave out a detail that will surely convince you, as it has me, to return your Z1015: For every 4 to 5 pictures you take in smart-scene, there is a 20-50 second pause for the Kodak Perfect Touch post-processing...let me repeat that, you take 4-5 pictures and then the camera locks up completely for a half minute (using RAW files), up to almost a full minute if you're using jpg compression. Call Kodak about it and they'll tell you that this long delay is "normal," that a firmware upgrade is coming, and that you should "return your camera for repair." This camera is a disaster and Kodak needs to pump out a major Firmware upgrade eliminating the post-processing. I was a fan of the Z series, having owned a Z612, and Z712, and recommended the Z812 to my mother as an easy to use, point-and-shoot camera. They are all excellent, fast cameras. The Z1015 is a major, substantial downgrade. It's no longer fast, in fact it is downright SLOW, thus making it a loser in the point and shoot field.
Update: I should have mentioned that when using the PASM manual settings, you can skip the post-processing freeze. Only Automatic and all scene setting modes (everything that makes the camera point-and-shoot), are affected by the processing lock-up.

This camera was purchased for my husband to travel to Indonesia into the rain forest for work. He is a paramedic and loved the 7x zoom, the fact that the camera is water resistant is helpful in the rainforest enviroment that he is traveling in. The small compact design and great price all were factors in our buying this camera. We first saw it at [...] but item was sold out when we went to purchase it so i found it on Amazon and was very happy with the price and service.
Needs some vibrancy to the colors 3 out of 5 stars.

Good camera for the price and I do like the extended zoom capability. However, the pictures are not as vibrant as my Canon A-95.
